What are the advantages of post-operative care?

After a successful operation, the first two days after surgery will require 24-hour intensive care. Depending on the procedure most experience extreme discomfort and inability to render personal care during this time so we recommend a minimum of 48 hours of intensive care however 7 days post-operative care is necessary for most.

Another advantage of professional post-operative care is proper healing and faster recovery. How you heal from any plastic surgery procedure will greatly affect your final outcome. We use the most advanced post-operative techniques to ensure that your body heals in the form that your surgeon intended as well as reduce swelling, prevent abnormalities (lumps and bumps), and minimize scarring.

Since each surgical procedure is different is is important that you consult your physician for exact details surrounding your procedure and healing. We find that everyone heals at different rates depending on the type of surgery. Most can return to an active routine within six weeks however complete healing takes 6 months to a year for most procedures. Scarring will likely fade over the course of a year.

Do – Get plenty of rest:

When the body gets a regular 8 hours of sleep a night, it can help boost health. This is especially the case with the body’s immune system. Proper sleep allows the body to heal by increasing the amount of oxygen flowing through the blood. However, it is crucial for the patient to sleep in an elevated position and on their back in order to guarantee proper healing.

Don’t – Rest too much:

Light exercise, and stretching, are also essential to help boost blood oxygen levels and prevent blood clots and stiffness.

Do – Light Workouts:

Exercise should be limited to walking and gentle stretching and gradually eased into, over the next few weeks. Overdoing it is a bad idea. Your body will tell you when you’ve had too much and it’s important to listen to it. After 3-6 months, you may even be ready for your regular workout routine.

Don’t fly after surgery:

Patients should not make travel arrangements by plane within 14 days after surgery
